This research paper examined the theme of asceticism in the poetry of the Abbasid poet Abu Nuwas, focusing on the morphological, syntactic, and semantic analysis of his ascetic poems. The research concluded several key findings, most notably: the poet's prolific use of infinitives and diverse types of plurals in his poetry; his utilization of various rhetorical styles such as interrogation, emphasis, condition, and foregrounding and backgrounding; in addition to his use of the semantics devices of synonymy and contrast
