Basra Celebrates the Launch of Dr. Nasser Hajjaj's Book 'Arab Vernacularism'

برعاية ديوان محافظة البصرة، احتفلت المكتبة المركزية في البصرة بتوقيع كتاب الدكتور ناصر الحجاج “المحلية العربية” Arab Vernacularism
حضر هذه المناسبة وشارك فيها نخبة من المبدعين في مجالات الشعر والقصة والموسيقى والكتابة الإبداعية والنقدية والدراسات بالإضافة إلى عدد من الأكاديميين والباحثين والمثقفين والمعنيين بالشؤون الثقافية وطلبة الجامعات.
وقد أشاد الحضور بالجهد البحثي والمنهجي الذي قدمه الحجاج، حيث اختط في كتابه الجديد منهجا جديدة للبحث في العناصر والثيمات التي أهملها البحث بشكل عام، وكذلك ابتكر الحجاج منهجا جديدا هو “المحلية” Vernacularism والتي تعني بالسردية المحلية أو الشعبية، المهمشة أمام هيمنة السردية العامة، الرسمية، المركزية.
وفي الأنشطة التي رافقت توقيع الكتاب صرح الحجاج أن مادة الكتاب والجهود التي بذلت فيه، استغرقت قرابة عقدين من العمل الميداني والزيارات لأماكن مختلفة بهدف استقراء محليات الشعوب العربية في شمال أفريقيا، وبلاد الشام والخليج بالإضافة إلى العراق من شماله إلى جنوبه.
وصرح الحجاج للصحفيين إن أنشطة توقيع للكتاب سيتم الإعلان عن القيام بها في العراق وخارج العراق قريبا.
تأتي طباعة هذا الكتاب دعما للمشاريع الثقافية والأكاديمية، حيث يطرح الحجاج في كتابه نظرية نقدية جديدة “النظرية المحلية” Vernacularism theory” والتي تقوم على ثلاث مستويات أو أبعاد، هي بُعد التوظيف الإبداعي للثيمات والعناصر المحلية، وبُعد المنهج النقدي الذي يحقق ويبحث في التوظيفات الإبداعية للمحليات، والبعد الثالث وهو البعد الأيديولوجية والمتمثل في المقاومة الثقافية للعنف الرمزي وللهيمنة الثقافية التي تمثلها الجوانب السلبية للعولمة، دفاعا عن التنوع الثقافي وعن الأقليات المهمشة أو المحتقرة من قبل القوى المهيمنة.
تجدر الإشارة أن الدكتور ناصر الحجاج يرأس تحرير مجلة بلاد ما بين النهرين للدراسات اللغة العربية والتي تُعنى بدراسة التنوع اللغوي وبالغنى الثقافي للغة العربية.
Basra Celebrates the Signing of Arab Vernacularism
Under the patronage of the Basra Governorate Council, the Central Library in Basra hosted a book signing event for Dr. Nasser Hajjaj’s Arab Vernacularism (المحليّة العربية ).
The event was attended by a distinguished group of poets, storytellers, musicians, creative writers, critics, academics, researchers, cultural enthusiasts, and university students. The audience praised the scholarly and methodological effort presented by Hajjaj, noting how his new book pioneers a unique approach to exploring themes and elements often neglected in academic research. Hajjaj introduced an innovative methodology, Vernacularism, which focuses on local or popular narratives marginalized in favor of dominant, official, and centralized narratives.
During activities accompanying the book signing, Hajjaj shared that the resources and research efforts behind the book spanned nearly two decades of fieldwork and visits to various locations. These efforts aimed to explore the localities of Arab communities in North Africa, the Levant, the Gulf, and Iraq, from its north to its south.
Hajjaj also announced to reporters that further book-signing events will soon be held both within Iraq and internationally.
The publication of this book supports cultural and academic projects, as Hajjaj introduces a new critical theory, the Vernacularism Theory. This theory is built upon three levels or dimensions:
- The creative dimension, which involves the imaginative employment of local themes and elements.
- The critical dimension, which examines and investigates the creative uses of vernacular elements.
- The ideological dimension, which represents cultural resistance to symbolic violence and the cultural hegemony imposed by the negative aspects of globalization, defending cultural diversity and advocating for marginalized or disparaged minorities.
It is worth noting that Dr. Nasser Hajjaj serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Mesopotamian Journal of Arabic Language Studies, a publication dedicated to exploring the linguistic diversity and cultural richness of the Arabic language.
