Special Issues
Special Issues Policy
The Mesopotamian Journal of Civil Engineering (MJCE) does not currently conduct special issues. Nonetheless, should the organization of a special issue be considered in the future, the following guidelines and procedures will be implemented to uphold high-quality publications and maintain strict editorial standards.
Appointment of Guest Editors
Guest editors for special issues are selected based on their subject expertise, scholarly reputation, and previous editorial experience. Nominations may be proposed by members of the editorial board, current editors, or through self-nomination.
All nominations undergo review and approval by the Editor-in-Chief to ensure adherence to the highest standards of scholarship and integrity.
Guest editors are entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Establishing the scope and aims of the special issue.
- Creating and promoting the call for papers.
- Managing the manuscript submission and peer review process.
- Ensuring the selected manuscripts meet standards of quality and originality.
- Collaborating with the Editor-in-Chief on final publication decisions.
Setup of Special Issues
To propose a special issue, a comprehensive proposal must be submitted to the editorial board. The proposal should detail the following:
- The chosen theme and objectives for the special issue.
- The intended audience and the relevance of the topic.
- The names and qualifications of prospective guest editors.
- A projected timeline covering submissions, peer review, and publication.
Upon approval by both the editorial board and the Editor-in-Chief, the call for papers will be distributed through various channels to invite submissions. The editorial team will work in close coordination with guest editors to ensure that the special issue follows the journal’s publication schedule and meets quality expectations.
