Peer Review Process
The Mesopotamian Journal of Civil Engineering (MJCE) utilizes a single-blind peer review process, in which reviewers’ identities are concealed from the authors. The journal operates through the ScholarOne Manuscripts system (Clarivate) to efficiently manage the peer review process. All submitted manuscripts must represent original research that has not been previously published or is not under review elsewhere.

Before being forwarded to external reviewers, each submission is first evaluated by the editorial board to confirm that it aligns with the journal’s aims and scope. Manuscripts that pass this preliminary screening are then assigned to at least two independent reviewers. The authors’ identities are disclosed to reviewers, but reviewers’ identities remain anonymous to the authors.

If a submission receives a negative recommendation from one reviewer, an additional reviewer will be assigned. If two independent reviewers recommend rejection, the submission will not be accepted for publication in MJCE. Authors will receive reviewer comments and are expected to address any required revisions within the given timeframe before a final decision is rendered.
Authors intending to withdraw their manuscript from MJCE must complete and submit the official Withdrawal Form to the editorial board. Authors are also responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with the journal’s formatting and style requirements. Please note that MJCE does not provide copyright fees or financial compensation to authors for published articles.
